Watch: Aquaman 2 Releases Teaser for First Trailer

Warner Bros. recently released a short teaser for the upcoming full trailer of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, set to be released in December. Unfortunately, this year has not been kind to DC Comics properties on the big screen. Films like Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Blue Beetle, and The Flash have all struggled at the box office in 2023. Despite these setbacks, Warner Bros. and DC still have one movie left to release that could potentially turn things around: Aquaman 2.

Aquaman 2 Releases Teaser Online

Warner Bros. has released a teaser for the upcoming full trailer of “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” on YouTube. The teaser reveals that the complete trailer will be available in four days, on Thursday, September 14th. The teaser features Jason Momoa’s character, Arthur Curry, in all his Atlantean grandeur, floating before what appears to be an underwater throne or gateway.

Black Manta, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, chillingly threatened to kill Aquaman and destroy everything he holds dear, reprising his character from the first film.

Aquaman rides on a giant, neon blue seahorse while being accompanied by an octopus clinging to the seahorse with its tentacles.

The Last Gasp of Air for the DCEU?

It seems likely that many people who enjoy movies, including some who work for Warner Bros., may not be very optimistic about the prospects for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Although the first film generated more than $1 billion, the movie industry has changed considerably since then. Additionally, people’s opinions about DC films have been negatively affected this year, given that the brand has released three unsuccessful movies in a row (four if we include Black Adam, going back to 2022).

There are plans to revamp all aspects of DC multimedia, which could leave Aquaman 2 out in the cold. However, there are rumors of a new role for Jason Momoa in the future. Despite this uncertainty, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has the potential to be profitable. Momoa is a charming lead and the visuals in the trailer teaser are impressive. The film is set to release on December 20, during the holiday week, which could help its success.
