Katee Sackhoff, who portrays Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian, shared her thoughts on the possibility of a romance between her character and Din Djarin before her appearance at Fan Expo in San Francisco. In season 3 of the popular Star Wars Disney+ series, Bo-Katan received more screen time than usual, which allowed her to spend more time with Din Djarin. As a result, many fans started shipping the two characters as a couple, hoping for their relationship to deepen. Despite the speculation, nothing romantic happened between the two characters. However, the rumors were fueled by the fact that Sackhoff and Brendan Wayne, who was the Mandalorian’s stunt double, shared playful kisses on set, albeit through the Mando helmet.
Were Sparks Ever Flying From Bo-Katan and The Mandalorian?
Katee Sackhoff, who plays Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian, recently spoke to The Direct about a potential romance between her character and Din Djarin. Sackhoff appeared at last weekend’s Fan Expo in San Francisco. When asked if there was ever any discussion about the two characters getting together romantically, Sackhoff denied it, clarifying that there was nothing more than just some joking around with Brendan Wayne on set. She previously spoke about this moment at Phoenix Fan Fusion 2023.
“No, I think that there’s probably just as much speculation in the shipping of The Armor and Bo-Katan. I think that anytime you put a woman and a man on screen together, it’s bound to happen. I think that that’s just one of those things, that speculation that people enjoy. But no, nothing more than just joking around between myself and Brendan Wayne at work, so no.”
During the conversation, the topic shifted towards deleted scenes, and whether any significant sequences were left out during editing. The actress disclosed that she did not recall any scenes being cut, and even if there were, it was probably for a good reason.
“And there were no scenes that I remember being cut, and if they were cut, there probably is a good reason for it. I know that sometimes some scenes get shortened, and you know, and that’s probably [because of] runtime.”
Watching the cake being baked and seeing how it comes together was what Sackhoff found most interesting.
“…What’s really interesting is to watch the sort of, the cake be baked if you will. We get the scripts, we do the work, and then to sort of see the things and see how it comes together as always such a beautiful thing.”
She added that executive producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have a specific story in mind, and they add and delete elements to bring their vision to life.
“…I think at the end of the day, Jon [Favreau] and Dave [Filoni] and the creators of the show have a very specific story in mind and feel of the show. So, they add and delete as they see fit to bring the show to life as it’s being edited together.”
Bo-Katan may not be in the spotlight on screen at the moment, but Katee Sackhoff, the actor who portrays her, is still going strong and doing her best to connect with fans. Sackhoff attended the Fan Expo in San Francisco, which was originally planned for last year but postponed due to the pandemic.
“I was meant to go, I believe, last year, and ended up having to cancel due to some family health reasons. And so this will actually be the first year that I attend.”
Although she spends most of her time greeting fans and holding panels, have you ever wondered what actress Katee Sackhoff does outside of convention hours? According to Sackhoff, she usually ends up having dinner with someone she hasn’t seen for a long time.
“So I usually end up out at dinner with someone that I haven’t seen for a long time. So, you know, I got to catch up with Lou Diamond Phillips the other day, and I get to catch up with actors that I’ve worked with, but I haven’t seen [in a while]. I saw Kiefer Sutherland. I’m looking forward to seeing Mary McDonald. I haven’t seen her for a while, and, at this one, and so we usually end up at a bar someplace catching up.”
During the recent strikes, The Direct asked what the actress was up to. She explained that she was balancing taking care of her two-year-old while working with her husband on various projects.
“You know, the same as usual, to be honest. I have a two-year-old, so just running after her. But at the same time, my husband and I were creating projects together and constantly working together on projects at home. So, nothing really changed for us. You know, other than I wasn’t necessarily at work on set.”
The actress continued attending conventions despite ongoing strikes.
“I continued to go to conventions and see fans and talk about the things that we could talk about… It went on for way too long. But at the same time, you know, it was definitely needed. And so you make the most of it, you know?”
Actress Katee Sackhoff confirmed that she had visited the picket lines, but chose not to document most of her visits on social media.
“Absolutely, yeah. No, I would multiple times. Multiple times. I’m just not–I just don’t like to post a lot of stuff on social media. I’m not one to post about good deeds and strikes and things like that. I just try to and have always wanted to keep my social media largely positive at all times. And tried to keep it a breath of fresh air for myself. And so I choose not to post a lot of things on my social media, and I try to keep it pretty vanilla.”
No Romance for Bo-Katan and Din Djarin
It seems unlikely that Bo-Katan and Din Djarin will have a romantic relationship in the show. There has been no indication of any romantic interest between the two characters, and they both seem to be focused on other things. Bo-Katan has just regained control of her homeland and is now the leader of her people, while Din is busy taking care of Grogu and living a peaceful life.
Furthermore, it’s possible that Bo-Katan may not even appear in future episodes of The Mandalorian. Din is now on his own, and his upcoming adventures may not involve Mandalore at all.
It is possible that someday the danger posed by Thrawn will become even more imminent and compel Bo-Katan and the Mandalorian community to act again. However, fans may have to wait until Dave Filoni’s upcoming MandoVerse film to witness this event. The Mandalorian can be streamed on Disney+.
