We already know that Michael Keaton will reprise his role as Batman in The Flash, making this the actor’s first time donning the cape and cowl since 1992’s Batman Returns. In this forthcoming DC film, Ben Affleck’s Batman will once again link up with Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen, so he is not the only actor portraying the Caped Crusader. A new trailer for The Flash has revealed that Jeremy Irons is reprising Alfred Pennyworth, one of Bruce Wayne’s other important pals, so when that Bruce Wayne character comes to the big screen, the character will be with him.
Similar to Affleck, Irons debuted in the DC Extended Universe with the 2016 film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He then took part in both Justice League films. It’s nice that Irons’ Alfred will be joining him on this final journey since The Flash is expected to be Affleck’s last time playing Batman (not to mention the fact that he has no interest in directing a DC film). However, since he’s shown in the Batcave, I’m skeptical that Irons and Affleck actually crossed paths again during production. Check out The Flash international trailer, which was first published by The Flash Film News, for a brief glimpse of Batman’s dependable butler and father figure.
UPDATE: The final trailer for The Flash, which is available to view below, has been formally published by Warner Bros.
Michael Gough, who portrayed Alfred Pennyworth in Michael Keaton’s Batman, died in 2011, therefore it was only fitting that his portrayal of the role did as well. Therefore, he will be residing alone in Wayne Manor when the main Barry Allen encounters Bruce Wayne in The Flash. On the other hand, Jeremy Irons’ Alfred is still a part of Ben Affleck’s Batman’s life as we observe him orchestrating contact between Barry and Bruce, perhaps in preparation for the task we’ll see these two complete together early on in the film. In the world of The Batman, Andy Serkis presently plays Alfred.
The remaining portions of this The Flash trailer follow plotlines that have already been seen in earlier trailers, such as Barry traveling through time to save his mother but arriving in a world without meta-humans. Barry will need to work with his doppelgänger, Michael Michael Keaton’s Batman, and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl to stop the invading Kryptonians when Michael Shannon’s General Zod makes his way to Earth to complete his same mission from Man of Steel. However, this will be complicated by the appearance of a new antagonist who fans think they’ve already identified.
A new Batman will be appointed to command The Brave and the Bold after the events of The Flash reset the DCEU timeline and usher in the DC Universe period. The Scarlet Speedster movie has received mostly excellent reviews so far, with author Stephen King declaring that he “loved it”. As we approach the conclusion of the history of DC movies, a Max subscription will allow you to relive the DCEU.
On June 16, The Flash will hit cinemas, and tickets are on sale today.
