Marvel Studios has announced the delay of all its remaining Phase 5 films and has also shared new release dates for four upcoming blockbusters. Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) began in February 2023 with Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, and was originally intended to end with the release of Thunderbolts, including movies such as Blade, Deadpool 3, and Captain America: Brave New World.

Initially scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, 2024, the R-rated comedy was delayed by two months and will now be released on July 26, 2024.
The production of the Ryan Reynolds-led blockbuster was halted due to the actors’ strike, leaving it halfway through filming. Marvel Studios is now racing to resume production as soon as possible in order to meet the new July deadline. Captain America: Brave New World
Captain America: Brave New World, another MCU movie, was in mid-production before it had to pause due to the SAG job action. Anthony Mackie was going to make his big-screen debut as Marvel’s Star-Spangled Man on July 26, 2024. However, Deadpool 3 took that spot, and Captain America 4 was moved down the slate. Now, it is going to be released on February 14, 2025. Even though Brave New World had finished filming before Hollywood shut down in mid-July, the movie had a chance to move up the Marvel slate. However, that is not the case as the film is rumored to undergo extensive reshoots, like many MCU films do, according to Jeff Sneider.
Thunderbolts
Originally intended to be the final movie in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Thunderbolts will now be the penultimate film in this particular chapter of the Marvel Studios saga. This group of super-powered “losers,” led by Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, David Harbour’s Red Guardian, and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, was initially scheduled to debut on December 20, 2024. However, due to strikes by actors and writers, the release date has been postponed by over six months to July 25, 2025.
Marvel had designated the summer of 2021 for filming Thunderbolts, but the strikes prevented the studio from moving forward, leading to a significant delay. The movie will most likely be filmed in the spring or summer of 2024, as Marvel Studios completes some of its other unfinished films that were halted by the strikes.
Blade
Mahershala Ali’s Blade was the first movie announced out of this batch, but it will now be released last. The vampire-slaying film has suffered several delays in the past few years. The latest delay has pushed back its release date from February 14, 2025, to November 7, 2025. These delays come after months of production troubles that have plagued the MCU Blade reboot.
Recent reports suggest that the film is undergoing an extensive rewrite, nearly a year after experiencing a change in directors in the midst of its development.
