The topic “Marvel Teases Kingpin’s MCU Return In New Echo Plot Synopsis” has two versions, a written version and a video version below the written version.
There are some fresh revelations regarding Echo that not only mention Kingpin but also suggest his significance in the MCU series.
Echo is a spin-off of Hawkeye, featuring Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez. The show will highlight her return to her Native American heritage after the events of Jeremy Renner’s Disney+ series in 2021.
Kingpin, portrayed by Vincent D’Onofrio, is confirmed to make a comeback, along with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, ahead of their reunion in Daredevil: Born Again.
Echo Synopsis Hints at Kingpin's MCU Comeback
The description of Echo Episode 1 submitted by Marvel Studios to the U.S. Copyright Catalog hinted at the possible appearance of Kingpin and his role in the 2024 series.
According to the synopsis of the first episode, Maya Lopez is described as the “successor to the brutal legacy of Wilson Fisk:”
“Marvel Studios presents “Echo” in which Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) struggles to reconnect with her Native American roots while balancing aspirations tied to a life of crime as successor to the brutal legacy of Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) aka Kingpin. In the first episode, we are introduced to Maya Lopez and her struggles.”
Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Kingpin in the Marvel series, received second billing after Alaqua Cox who plays Echo.
The last time the audience saw Kingpin was when Maya found out about his treachery and pointed a gun at him, firing a shot that was not shown on screen.
The latest synopsis confirms what was revealed at the 2022 D23 Expo about Kingpin being wounded and wearing a bandage, and addressing Maya after a long time.
Is Echo Required Viewing for Daredevil: Born Again?
It’s possible that Vincent D’Onofrio’s character, Wilson Fisk, in the show Echo may have a more significant role rather than just a cameo appearance, as suggested by the show’s synopsis and D’Onofrio’s billing.
Fans of Daredevil may find it necessary to watch Echo, as the storyline of Alaqua Cox’s character, Maya Lopez, will be crucial to Charlie Cox’s storyline.
Additionally, it seems that Maya will be leading Kingpin’s Tracksuit Mafia and criminal operations at the beginning of the show, with the mention of her being the “successor to the brutal legacy of Wilson Fisk.”
Assuming that he wants to reclaim his empire, the question remains as to how he plans to achieve this and how it will impact his other rumored goals.
If Echo’s release date of January 2024 remains unchanged, we can expect to learn more soon. Regardless, fans can anticipate that Echo will connect the storylines of Hawkeye and Born Again.
Echo is currently set to premier in January 2024.
