The official release date for Loki Season 2 has been announced by Disney+ after months of speculation.
Since the second season of Tom Hiddleston’s series, God of Mischief was announced as a mid-credits scene to conclude Season 1, the character’s reappearance has been in a perpetual state of upheaval.
The show’s filming was completed in October 2022, and footage from it was shown in a Disney+ ad that was unveiled earlier this year.
At the conclusion of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a post-credits sequence teased the “search [for]… Kang Variants” that will be the focus of Loki’s Second Season. This was the most recent hint from the Mutliversal streaming series.
Loki Season 2 Release Date Announced
Loki Season 2 will debut on Disney+ on October 6 according to Marvel Studios, who spoke during Disney’s 2023 Upfront presentation.
Friday, October 6, is a departure from the platform’s recent trend of Marvel Studios releases on Wednesdays.
The series was supposed to premiere somewhere “in mid-2023,” according to the most current speculations, while a different story from recently said it would happen later.
A Later Than Expected Loki Debut
The reality-bending series was originally officially announced as “Summer 2023” back at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, making October appear far later than what Loki Season 2 fans had initially anticipated. Thus, October is only a tiny bit outside of that timeframe.
A modest delay like this will be welcomed by fans given the circumstances that Disney and Marvel Studios are now in, including a shift in content strategy, the global financial crisis, and (currently) the Hollywood writers’ strike.
Moving the series from a Wednesday release to a Friday release is nearly more intriguing.
Projects from Marvel Studios made their Disney+ debuts on Friday when they first began to be made available. However, Loki Season 1 initiated a tradition of Wednesday releases, bucking that norm.
Marvel has occasionally strayed from its Wednesday publication schedule (such as with She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), but for the most part, it has adhered to this rule.
However, it appears that Loki will alter the situation once more. It appears that it won’t be the only significant shift for long because the next MCU series, Echo, has already announced that all of its episodes will be released on Wednesday, November 29.
The second season of Loki premieres on October 6.
