Cardi B has chosen to have some time off from social media after her fans were not happy that she was not going to the 2022 Grammy Awards.
As per Billboard, the "WAP" MC erased her Twitter and Instagram accounts on Sunday evening (April 3) yet prior to pulling the plug, the 29-year-old called out her fans.
She was nominated for "Best Rap Performance" for her track "Up," which was eventually won by Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar's song "family ties."
"I'm deleting my Twitter but oh God I hate this f---in' dumb--- fan base," Cardi shared.
"You got the slow dumb***es dragging my kids all cause y'all [thought] I was going to the Grammys and I didn't? The f***?”" she went on in another tweet. "When the f--- I hinted I was going? Just f---in stupid. I can't. I need to protect myself."
Billboard also notes that Cardi once more where fans got the idea that she would be attending the Las Vegas Ceremony.
"When did I hype y'all up ?" Cardi said. "Where and when did I ever gave hints ? Like are you ok? I'm not going to an award [show] if I don't got a new song to perform or [if] my album ain't out."
"Next year," she added.
Before deactivating her Instagram, the Bronx rapper made a beeline for IG Live to address what is going on much further, as per E! News.
"Why would I go to the awards for?" she questions in the eight-minute clip. "Do I have any new music? Why would I show up with one nomination?"
This isn't whenever that Cardi first has had some time off from social media, back in March 2021, and in October 2020, the rapper removed herself from Twitter to enjoy some time off.
Black artists won huge at the 2022 Grammys in the main four classifications with Jon Batiste winning "Album of the Year," Silk Sonic winning "Record of the Year," Tyler the Creator winning "Rap Album of the Year," and Jazmine Sullivan taking home the win for "R&B Album of the Year."
