The topic “Fantastic Four Reboot Gets New Start Date Announcement” has two versions, a written version below, and a video version below the written version.
A recent update provides a tentative launch date for Matt Shakman’s Fantastic Four revival.
The MCU is poised to delve into one of Marvel’s most renowned properties, the Fantastic Four, after years of anticipation.
Despite persistent rumors, there have been no formal casting announcements for the movie. The forthcoming blockbuster has, however, been in production ever since it was revealed during Disney Investor’s Day in late 2020.
Due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike, there may still be some time before spectators see the Fantastic Four cast, but there have been updates on this much awaited superhero epic.
Fantastic Four Reboot Production Start Revealed
Fans may rest certain that filming for the Fantastic Four will begin at some point soon, according to director Matt Shakman.
Shakman revealed to Collider that filming will now likely start in the spring:
Collider: “I’m not asking you any spoiler-type things, but assuming the SAG strike gets resolved, is the hope to be filming early next year?”
Shakman: “Yes, we are definitely gonna go in front of cameras next year. Probably the spring.”
In spite of the ongoing strikes, the director has continued “working with the effects and production design, building the film’s world,” he stated. The super-powered reboot will be produced in London at Pinewood Studios.
“London. Pinewood. We have been nonstop. Despite the strikes, yes, we’ve been working with the effects and with production design and building our world, and that’s been incredibly exciting. You know, how do you translate those skills into live-action in dynamic ways? Because some things that work beautifully in John Byrne and Jack Kirby are a little tougher when you’re filming them. How do you make sure that things are exciting but also grounded in a scientific thing, which is also part of the Fantastic Four that I love? There’s some stuff I’m super excited about. I can’t say too much, you know?”
The Hollywood Reporter had previously reported that the movie would start shooting sometime in early 2024, with a possible January start date being taken into consideration. The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike in Hollywood is probably to blame for the modest delay to spring, which might be made worse if the studios and performers are unable to quickly reach a deal.
When Will the Fantastic Four Cast Be Announced?
Fans will be more interested in learning when the Fantastic Four cast will be revealed now that the start of filming appears to be scheduled. Despite celebrities like Margot Robbie, Adam Driver, and many more purportedly being associated with the project, the planned reboot has yet to reveal the members of its titular squad.
At least now, viewers are aware of when they may at least anticipate learning who will be in the Matt Shakman movie. Kevin Feige has reportedly been directly involved in what has been called a “thorough” casting process for Fantastic Four, according to sources from last spring.
“Just to be clear, even if something is getting active or gearing up, could still be weeks or even months before we have our four actors given how thorough the studio and Feige are.”
Although that was the last kind of status update on their progress, it now appears that Marvel has at least started writing and has its cast on board.
Shakman also mentioned the possibility of revealing the movie’s title team “once [the actors’ strike] is resolved” in a different Collider interview.
The Fantastic Four casting announcement might therefore occur before the end of the year, particularly if the film continues with its spring 2024 production start date.
But everything hinges on when the SAG-AFTRA agreement can be completed. And if that happens soon, a formal announcement might be on the horizon.
On May 2, 2025, the Fantastic Four is slated for release.
