Deadpool 3 Trailer: Deadpool And Wolverine’s TVA & Loki Connections Explained

The trailer for Marvel Studios’ Deadpool 3 (titled Deadpool and Wolverine) confirms a connection to the Time Variance Authority (TVA) from Loki.

The TVA Show up on Wade Wilson's Doorstep

In the new teaser for Deadpool and Wolverine, the TVA (Time Variance Authority) is introduced right away as they are heard knocking on Wade Wilson’s door within the first 20 seconds of the teaser. Although Wade attempts to resist, it soon becomes evident that he is no match for the powerful agency.

In the next scene, Deadpool appears before Matthew Macfayden’s character, TVA Agent Paradox, who introduces him to the MCU. Paradox suggests that this is Wade’s opportunity to become a hero among heroes. Unlike their previous modus operandi of pruning timelines, it seems that the TVA is currently recruiting for something.

In the recently released trailer, Deadpool is seen declaring himself Marvel Jesus and strutting around the TVA with his new bright red outfit. However, the TVA is not pleased with his antics and the hero soon finds himself in The Void, which was previously seen in Loki Season 1, Episode 5. While in The Void, Wade Wilson gets into fights with some unseen threats as a destroyed 20th Century Studios sign lays in the rubble behind him. Additionally, he gets to meet Alioth, whose purple fog can be seen snatching up a TVA agent. The trailer ends with Deadpool lying on the ground, presumably still in The Void, as the shadow of Wolverine, with his claws extended, looms over him.

Deadpool and Wolverine's TVA & Loki Connections Explained

If you’ve been following the progress of Deadpool 3, you won’t be surprised to learn about the involvement of the TVA. This possibility was first mentioned in an unverified rumor in December 2022, which claimed that the TVA would play a significant role in the film. Another unverified rumor in February 2023 suggested that the movie would open up the Multiverse, and Deadpool would be a crucial part of the MCU. Some photos from the set in July 2023 showed the production filming in the Void.

The show depicts a notably desolate landscape, which draws a remarkable parallel to the destroyed and discarded 20th Century Fox logo showcased in the new trailer. This analogy is similar to the forgotten Avengers Tower, time-traveling Pyramid, and Thanos copter that fans saw in the movie. Several scenes from the film were shot in the same area, which suggests there will be a major sequence taking place. This is also where fans get their first glimpse of Wolverine’s comic-accurate outfit as both he and Wade engage in a battle.

What Will the TVA Be Up to in Deadpool and Wolverine?

After the events of the Loki series, it seems like timelines are no longer being pruned. This implies that the TVA might be working on something else entirely.

Perhaps they are recruiting heroes to prepare for the upcoming battle against Kang the Conqueror. This would make sense and could potentially set the stage for the Avengers: Secret Wars.

Given the involvement of the TVA, there’s a chance that characters from the Loki series, like Sylvie, Hunter-B15, or Miss Minutes, might appear.

As for Tom Hiddleston’s character, Loki, he may be too preoccupied with holding the Multiverse together to make an appearance.

It’s also worth noting that the Deadpool and Wolverine movie is set to release on July 26.
