Actress Morena Baccarin, who starred in the previous Deadpool movies, has revealed some details about her character’s return in the upcoming third installment of the franchise. In an interview with Screen Rant, Baccarin disclosed that Deadpool 3 will “reinvent” the relationship between her character, Vanessa, and Wade, played by Ryan Reynolds. She also confirmed that she has already completed filming her scenes for the movie. This suggests that Vanessa may not have a major role in the film’s overall plot. In the previous movie, Vanessa was accidentally killed, but Wade was able to save her through time travel. Fans are excited to see how the story unfolds in the first R-rated movie produced by Marvel Studios.
“I think it’s really cool that they are such well-met characters and that their lives… You can see them in and out of each other’s lives constantly,” Baccarin stated. “The comic, it’s the same way. So I think that the franchise and Ryan and the director, they’ve done a really great job of always reinventing that relationship and making it interesting but maintaining the core thing that keeps them always coming back to each other. So I think there’s a little bit more of that in this film.”
In addition to Reynolds and Baccarin, Deadpool 3 will also feature reappearances from Leslie Uggams’ Blind Al, Rob Delaney’s Peter, Stefan Kapičić’s Colossus, Karan Soni’s Dopinder, Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna’s Yukio, and Brianna Hildebrand’s Jenifer. Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen, who are newcomers to the franchise, will join them in unidentified roles. The Crown actor is anticipated to portray a villain. Reynolds also said lately that Dogpool will be among the variations that make an appearance in the eagerly awaited third installment.
Wolverine & Elektra Join Deadpool’s MCU Debut
Deadpool 3 will be led by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, who will return as Logan/Wolverine. The first batch of behind-the-scenes photos surfaced online before production was delayed by the SAG-AFTRA strike. These photos gave fans a glimpse of Jackman finally wearing Wolverine’s signature yellow and blue suit from the comics. Jennifer Garner will also be reprising her role as Elektra. However, while multiple major outlets have confirmed her involvement, Garner has played coy about her MCU casting.
As Deadpool 3 resumes production following the end of the Hollywood strikes, rumors continue to circulate around the project’s secret Marvel cameos. Director Shawn Levy has teased that Marvel Studios’ first R-rated movie will include multiple cameos, without confirming or denying the rumors. Levy has said, “People love Deadpool. People love Ryan [Reynolds]. Thankfully, people also seem to like my work. They know that Ryan and I are in a groove of creative brotherhood that is unique and seems to be working.”
Deadpool 3 is part of Phase Five and is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 26, 2024.
