MCU actor Simu Liu recently disclosed the only detail he is aware of regarding Marvel Studios’ plans for “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.”
As “Avengers 5” represents a significant culmination within the Multiverse Saga, and given its distant position in Marvel’s extensive release schedule, concrete information about the film remains elusive, aside from some leaked but rather vague plot points.
Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” is set to helm this Avengers installment, becoming the latest MCU figure to tackle Earth’s mightiest heroes on the silver screen.
Avengers 5 Star Shares What He Knows
During an interview with Men’s Health, MCU star Simu Liu shared his limited knowledge about Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.”
When questioned about his awareness of “Avengers 5” amidst the Writers Guild of America strike, Liu acknowledged that he is “pretty sure” he will be part of the production. However, he admitted to being in the dark about almost everything else:
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure I’m gonna be in it too. Beyond that, I really don’t know, and I don’t want to know before it’s absolutely ready. If there’s anything I’ve learned in this industry, especially with Marvel, it’s that things are changing, always in flux, and you really can’t be sure that something is going to happen until you’re on set and you’re about to do the scene. Even then, scenes get reshot, things get retooled, elements get added in post-production with visual effects and everything.”
Although Liu has been involved in other projects such as “Barbie,” he expressed his willingness to participate when the time comes, even though he prefers not to have too much information at this stage:
“So in between, it’s been a really fulfilling journey for me to get to do projects like ‘Barbie’—which are separate from that identity of Shang-Chi—and to really get to spread my wings as an artist. But if and when that call comes in… of course, a sequel is going to happen. Of course, ‘Kang Dynasty’ is going to happen. When that call comes, I will happily show up, read whatever I need to read, do whatever I need to prepare. But until then, I think the less I know the better.”
Simu Liu's Role in Avengers 5
It comes as no surprise that Simu Liu possesses limited knowledge about “Avengers 5” beyond his involvement in the film. He has already hinted at why he anticipates this movie to be a highly exceptional addition to the MCU.
Rumors have circulated that Liu will become one of the three primary Avengers leading this new narrative, alongside Black Panther and Captain America, as they unite Earth’s Mightiest Heroes against the formidable Kang the Conqueror within the Multiverse Saga.
While Marvel undoubtedly faces challenges in developing the film, fans eagerly await Liu’s return as Shang-Chi in “Avengers 5,” which may mark his first appearance since his standalone Phase 4 movie in 2021.
With recent delays impacting release dates, Marvel has ample time to ensure that all plot details are refined, aiming to replicate the success achieved in the previous four Avengers team-up films.
“Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
